Orientation + Welcome Reception

And so it begins!  Oh how much I’ve anticipated this day coming!  After a busy day of picking up luggage, trying to check Brandy in four times :), shopping at Trader Joes and Target, unpacking, meeting new friends and yogis, it’s time for orientation.

Bikram’s daughter welcomed us, followed by several amazing teachers and staff.  Each person offered a great piece of advice for us.  This training marks the 39th training since 1993 that Bikram has offered.  That’s 17 years of transformation!  Our class has soon will experience the world’s largest hot room – 16,000 square feet with 430 students, the largest teacher training class yet!

Students from all different backgrounds are arriving from all over the world, Ireland, Turkey, Mexico, Vancouver, London, Austria, Germany and more.  The current count is 35 countries represented.  Tomorrow starts day one of nine weeks of intense training, studying, practicing, learning, and teaching.  We begin at 8 am sharp and end, well, on a good day, midnight, and most days much much later.  As I work towards my certification, each week we will all complete 11 Bikram Yoga classes, or 99 classes in 63 days, but who’s counting?  :) Yogis – don’t forget to sign in!

My favorite take away from the teachers today comes from Lyn Whitlow.  She said to us “this is probably the best decision of your life”.

Time to get some rest and get to work!
